There are two violetwand accessories that you can’t live without, and the Lightbulb Adapter is one of those two important tools.

What a Lightbulb Adapter does, is it adapts any regular household lightbulb for use as a violet wand electrode.  This becomes indispensable when you understand that the lightbulbs don’t just ‘light up’ when hooked up into the adaptor set, but that they then produce brilliant sparking streamers in various colors, AND give you the complete sparking sensations, becoming violet wand electrodes.

Even old burned out lightbulbs become violet wand electrodes as long as the glass is intact.

DO NOT use a lightbulb adapter with old high vacuum television or radio tubes or any other very high vacuum bulbs.

FIT:  Our high chrome stainless steel parts are precision manufactured, including the insertion parts of our lightbulb adapter, and is 7/16″, (+/-.01).  If your wand collet has been stretched from use, you may have to adjust your collet back.  You will not have to adjust much but such a precision part may require it from time to time.

ADJUSTMENT:  Insert a small, thin-bladed screwdriver into your wand’s nose, btween the inside wall of the wand and the metal finger of the collet.  Very slowly, flex one finger of the wand collet inward, by less than 1mm, or about the visual thickness of this line: |

About lightbulb adapters.  A lightbulb adapter should have an internal gap.  It should be manufactured specifically for use to adapt lightbulbs as violet wand electrodes.  We’ve seen some do-it-yourself-ers selling threaded lamp cord tubing that they have ground down, but these gradually ruin the inside of your violet wand’s collet by abrading it.  Get one manufactured for the purpose, not thrown together.

You can get additional sockets for your adapter set that allow you to use all kinds of lightbulbs; household, decorative, european, even automotive lightbulbs can be used as violet wand electrodes.

The quality of your play is in direct proportion to the quality of your toys.

Different lightbulbs all have different properties as violet wand electrodes.  Large bulbs will have more surface area, and so their charge will be spread out over their surface, making them a lighter intensity.  And the smaller the lightbulb, then the more concentrated spark will be produced, providing a higher intensity.  Lightbulbs with sharp points will be even stronger.  And lightbulbs with more metal in their internal skeletons will be stronger still.  Lightbulbs with a lot of metal will even get quite warm, providing heat as well as a spark to your subject.  You can get intensities that vary in range on the complete 1-10 intensity scale with different lightbulbs.

There is one caveat; since lightbulb glass is much more fragile than the glass used for violet wand electrodes, greater care must be taken when playing.

When used with a Lightbulb adapter, the large flicker bulb (which has a flickering metal skeleton inside it and glows bright fire red) is most often used in violet wand fireplay since it gives off a very concentrated and strong, reliable spark.  Because it is so consistent in igniting fuel for violet wand fireplay, and because it is so visual with its bright fire-red glow, it is a very popular bulb to use with the Adaptor Set.

But equally beautiful are large glass globe bulbs with mysterious purple clouds with bright purple lightning arcing through them, or prismatic teal bulbs, or brilliant blue. And if it were just their colors that made them indispensable in your violet wand case, that would almost be enough.  But the variety of output types and accompanying sensations is even more varied.

We have chosen to offer some of the best lightbulbs to use as violet wand accessories- ones with the most variety in colors, uses, sensations and techniques of all the many lightbulbs on the market — and we have described how each bulb feels, the strength of its spark, glow color, and what it does when used with the Lightbulb Adapter.
